We were told to expect a dry day, but I don't think there was anyone in the paddock who had much confidence in the weather forecasters' predictions! However, although overnight rain had left the track damp, it soon dried out and with a stiff breeze and some sunshine by mid-morning it had become very grippy. Few incidents (and a smaller than anticipated entry) meant that practice was over by midday. An early lunch break was called and we were soon into timed runs. In his drivers' briefing (just about the briefest briefing on record!) the Clerk of the Course had hinted at the prospect of three timed runs, if things went well. Went well they did, and the extra run, which counted toward the results, was much appreciated by everyone. In view of some of the tribulations our events have suffered in the earlier part of the season, this was indeed a welcome bonus. AH
