Cold and unspeakably wet sums up the weather for pretty much the whole day, though the event ran remarkably smoothly in spite of that. Clerk of the Course Mark Chater was able to start first timed runs before the lunch break, but as the marshals started reporting standing water causing serious aquaplaning on parts of the circuit the decision was wisely taken to bring the lunch break forward. While the marshals took the well-earned opportunity to warm up with some hot food, the rain almost stopped and the circuit had drained sufficiently for the timed runs to resume. The respite did not last however, and by the time everyone had two timed runs the discouraging effect of the cold wind and horizontal rain meant that no-one was keen to prolong the event. The awards presentation got under way soon after 3 pm, and by 4 o'clock the paddock was just about deserted.
