Saturday 19 February 2011

Our first running of AutoSolo in the paddock at Castle Combe started in the dark and in the wet. It was cold too! Not a very pleasant way to start the day, but although the early runs were slightly hindered by the inclement weather and congestion in the paddock, we soon got into our stride and the event was soon running to CofC Paul Parker's carefully prepared schedule. Was it a success? Well, although those who had experienced our Hutton Moor AutoSolo missed the open spaces of Weston Airfield, the general verdict was YES! Particularly for BTRDA member Roger Holder who, on his first visit to one of our events, took a fine FTD by a mere 6-tenths of a second from Jamie Yapp (who incidentally took part in the first ever Bristol MC AutoSolo at Severn View way back in 2002). A further 6-tenths behind in third overall was another regular visitor, Kev Belcher, this time competing in a Rover 214, which perhaps was better suited to the venue than his regular drive.
