REWARD VOUCHER SCHEME

Tony Streeting

The aim of this scheme is to encourage members to marshal on our events, and to help them to become better equipped, warmer and drier. The principle of the scheme is that every time a Club Member marshals on an event in which Bristol Motor Club is involved as organisers, they will be entitled to a voucher with a value of 1 unit. A voucher will also be awarded to any member who introduces a new Full Member (i.e. not Associate), or for some other piece of work (as decided by the committee) that has been of benefit to the club. As a result, members can obtain something tangible in return for their support of the club or an event. Vouchers are issued according either to the marshals' signing-on forms or membership records, and are either distributed at events or club night or posted subsequently. Each voucher has a life of approx. two years, the date by which they must be redeemed being printed on each voucher. I maintain a register of vouchers issued and redeemed.

In 2001, the first season of operation, over one hundred vouchers were issued, and in 2002 in excess of 120 were earned. The number has grown each year, so the scheme seems to have been a success not only from an organiser's point of view, but also amongst members, for whom a voucher received some time after an event often comes as a pleasant surprise!

The most popular use for vouchers is for membership renewal, closely followed by part-payment for event entry fees. We lost our supplier of branded clothing 18 months ago, but have recently entered into a new arrangement for a range of Leisurewear bearing the club badge. (January 2009)
