HOW IT ALL BEGAN Percy Radford  (1911)
The Bristol Motor Cycle Club was formed one evening in 1911 by a group of motorcycle enthusiasts. This article is a (slightly inaccurate) 1950s account of the occasion. In fact the "Light Car" part of the name wasn't added until 1921.
A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE BRISTOL MC&LCC Jack Ashby (1957)
This takes the story a little further, covering events at Naish Hill, Weston-Super-Mare, Lulsgate, Whitchurch and Castle Combe.
THE HISTORY OF THE ALLEN Carlie Hart (1999)
Written by one of the present organisers of this prestigious event, it tells the story from its inception to the present day.
FACTS ABOUT CASTLE COMBE
(from the MSA Wheels! supplement in the circuit's 50th anniversary year)
BRISTOL MOTOR CLUB  AT CASTLE COMBE
by Circuit Archivist Pete Stowe, extracted from the definitive history of the circuit.
THE 1957 TULIP RALLY H A R Nash (1957)
A contemporary account of a Bristol Motor Club team entry for this famous Dutch event.
25 YEARS OF WISCOMBE 5-CLUBS Dick Mayo (2001)
How the five clubs came together to organise the annual September Hillclimb weekend.

Our BRISTOL MOTOR SPORT video tells the story of what has happened to club motor sport in the Bristol area over the last 70 years.

It was made by 1st Take Video of Yate, using our archive films which the club has collected over the years. These are interspersed with modern video shots, at the actual locations, to show how times and venues have changed.

It has been made in close collaboration with the club, and features long-standing members Phil Rumney and Chris Bigwood, who between them have considerable experience of active participation in club motorsport over many years. They were present at several of the events featured in the archive, and their comments add a lively personal touch to the film.

The makers are a small group of enthusiasts with a passion for Bristol and its surrounding area. Available in both DVD and VHS format, price £13.95 (discount for Bristol MC members). More details from their website www.1st-take.com or telephone 01454 321614. Club members may purchase direct from Phil Rumney at a discounted price.
